Metal Haze Entertainment and Autism Speaks are working together to bring Rock Awareness for Autism to our historic Seuffert Bandshell in Forest Park in Woodhaven, Queens. The goal is to educate the public about autism by holding a FREE Rock Concert on Saturday July 20th 2013 from 12 Noon to 6 PM. It’s an opportunity to show support for those with this disorder and enjoy a day out at the park with the family enjoying some good live music. One of the performers, alternative rocker, singer-songwiter Urica Rose joined us on Radio Free Woodhaven to talk about this event:
This is going to be a great event and one we hope that residents of Woodhaven and surrounding communities will come out to support. Any time you can get out to the park, to our 93-year old bandshell, enjoy some music and support a worthy cause -- that's a win-win!
Here is a beautifully done video showing you what children with Autism wish everyone knew about the disorder --
July 20th at Forest Park promises to be a fun day for all -- a rewarding experience for those who attend and those who worked so hard to bring this event to life. Our thanks go out to Autism Speaks and Metal Haze Entertainment for their work on Rock Awareness for Autism -- and a big thank you to the New York City Parks Department, who do such a wonderful job with the many parks around our city.
If you are not from the area and unfamiliar with Forest Park, click here to find out more about it. It has been in the news lately as the 100-year old Forest Park Carousel just became designated as a NYC Landmark.
We hope to see you all on July 20th at our historic bandshell for some great music and good times in a good cause.
